The Sportful Bodyfit and other essential clothing for keen cyclists

By Julie Hughes

Many people say that cycling is like a drug. Once you start, you can often get addicted or catch 'the bug'. Many people become rather obsessive with cycling once they get into it and it can often become a hobby that they partake in regularly. Most people start with a basic bike and decide from there whether they want to move onto mountain bikes or road bikes from there.

Once you have the cycling 'bug', it can be easy to find yourself spending a small fortune on cycling equipment. Enthusiasts go far beyond buying the cycling essentials such as the bike, helmet, lights etc. The outdoors market is huge and a fair proportion of the market is dedicated to cycling equipment. Specialist cycling clothing is big money business and there is so much for people to choose from.

Sure, as long as you have some sort of clothing that is suitable for cycling, be it off-road or for road cycling, you will be fine. However the more you cycle and the longer journeys you start to go on, you will find yourself looking for specialist clothing that is altogether more comfortable and better suited to the job. Specialist clothing is designed in a way that will heighten your cycling experience.

Many people will immediately recognise the stereotypically short shorts that come with road cycling. Although some people think that they look quite amusing, they are designed in a way that the shorts provide warmth, whilst allowing air to circulate and having the least amount of wind resistance as possible. With road cycling, speed is often key and streamlining is essential. You can choose from a range of cycling shorts, from very basic shorts, which can often come at a cheap price or you can go for something a little more professional, such as the Sportful Bodyfit.

There are plenty of products out there for mountain bikers too. There are a huge range of waterproof and durable jackets, bags, shorts, shoes and a whole host of other products. It really depends on what type of cycling you usually do as to what type of clothing will best suit you.
