Barossa Valley Wine Heaven

By Anton Maverick

The Barossa Valley is world famous wine district two hours drive to the north of Adelaide. It has been listed as one of the 10 best wine regions in the world and if this is where your interests lie, you can have the vacation of an entire life. There's masses of accommodation starting from luxury high end resorts and spas, through to reasonable priced country hotels and cottages, as well as caravan, campervan hire Australia and camping facilities.

The region offers wines, wineries and excellent food as well as masses of regional humanities and an engaging trailblazing history. All of these interests are readily available and at hand depending on your preferences. There are approximately 80 basement doors to visit. Should you wish to do some serious visiting, you should plan on staying at least 1 or 2 days, if not a week.

As well as the lovely wines, there's also a surplus of local produce available such as speciality workman cheeses and bread, as well as a variety of unique smoked and cured meat. You might think you have landed in culinary heaven. This provides the additional option of taking a picnic to your favorite spot and enjoying a food and drink journey of your own making.

Red wines like Shiraz and Cabernet, happily flourish in the Barossa as a result of the ideal climate of cool summers and wet winters. The Eden Valley, a little higher in altitude to the Barossa, is far more suited to Rieslings and Chardonnays. There is lots to choose from, no matter what your preference.

The Barossa's heritage design is available to explore and the surprising vistas of sweeping hills, complete along with manicured vineyards, creates a rememberable background to the entire experience. It that isn't enough, you could maybe try the bushwalking, cycling or golf, to supply a small balance to your ideal vacation.
