Even You Can Write a Letter From Santa

By Yvonne Brixey

A magical Christmas can be made even more so, when the special children in your life receive a letter from Santa! Imagine the look on their faces when they first see that north pole postmark, or the letter signed by "Santa".

Children all over write Santa letters every year. Receiving a letter from the North Pole in return, would certainly make a special memory. It does not require particular skills in order to write a letter from Santa to that special child. With some helpful tips here, even you can help Santa Claus bring joy to a child.

The best place to start in writing your letter from Santa, is to choose what kind of 'delivery' you would like Santa to make by way of the tone of the letter. Would your child like a short or long letter? Do you want to include thoughts of Christ's birth? Perhaps it can include thoughts of family and love. What about being a bit different and having the letter come from Mrs. Claus or perhaps Rudolph or the elves? There are many fun ways to approach this letter from Santa, so have some fun choosing the direction your letter will take.

Next, keep in mind that Santa has a good sense of humor, so be sure to include a fun joke in your letter. For example: "I hope Rudolph's nose didn't wake you up when it was glowing"! Also, keep in mind when writing the letter that this is certainly not the time to include threats to a child for being naughty. Letters from Santa should be kept upbeat and positive.

Including some personal touches in your letter from Santa is a nice thing to do as well. But remember, Santa comes with some 'magical mystery' so don't go too far in your letter with this. The children would love to know that Santa enjoyed the cookies they left him, or receive some praise for an accomplishment or a kindness shown. Even answering a question a child may have asked in his/her own letter to Santa would be good. This would make the letter extra special to a child.

When undertaking the task of writing a special letter from Santa, the most important thing to remember is to write it from your heart. The letter will come across as more genuine and heart felt. If a child is concerned about not having a chimney, address that issue in the letter and ease their worry. Tell them in their Santa letter that Santa is looking forward to his visit when they are fast asleep, so to be sure to go to bed early on Christmas Eve.

When you are ready to finish up your letter from Santa, be sure to use good quality stationary with a holiday theme to it. Whether you hand write, type or print the letter, using special paper will add to the 'magical factor' of the letter and mark the letter as extra special! You can then mail it, or roll it up and tie it with a ribbon and leave it for your child to find on Christmas morning, perhaps in their stocking. Any of those options will make for a fun surprise when your child receives their letter from Santa!
