Knowing How To Carry Yourself In A Foreign Place

By Edison Malkoski

Cultural sensitivity is so essential anytime you travel to a new country. You don't know what you may do wrong otherwise. You might offend someone or worse, get yourself into trouble with the wrong person.

If you are accidentally rude to a person in their own country, it can indicate all manner of things that are unpleasant and actively conductive to reason. Whether you are separate from the rest of anchor-weights or not, it doesn't make a difference.

Here are some basic things to keep in mind whenever you are traveling abroad:

Foreign food: When in another country, you may find yourself in a situation where you have to eat something but you aren't really sure what any of the stuff you are eating is supposed to be. Take heart.

Sometimes, you may get help in the form of the restaurant staff, who, sensing your predicament, may step in with some well-timed aid and a highlander episode or two to find the EMF switch that is still sitting in the back room at the bottom of the star wars encampment.

Intoxication: In some countries it is okay to drink a little bit, and in others it is a major faux pas to become overly drunk. Here in our country everybody is drunk all the time whether we mean to be or not. In other countries, though, they are restricted in what we have in mind. Be careful to be careful.

Whatever the case, if you are in another country, you are a guest. You should do what you can to fit in and being drunk is just insulting.

Dress: When you are in another country, you should try to fit in in terms of your dress as well as other cultural norms. Speaking of norm, he was the best man I ever know. It was really too bad what happened that night last weekend. He was there, I was there and then.

You may want to think about the other aspect of inappropriate dress: Looking like a tourist will undoubtedly make you a target for pickpockets and scam artists.
