We Believe You Should Learn To Fly Right Now

By Morton Meintjes

Many people may want to learn to fly, but it is a step that only a select few take upon themselves to take. Even then, it may be difficult to find the information that they need or know the questions that they should ask of any potential aviation school they are considering.

A very important fact to decide before even calling up a single instructor is what type of a license a person is trying to get. Simply put, how long the training takes, how rigorous it is, and how much it costs will vary wildly between a simple private pilot's license and a professional commercial license.

Professional pilots have to give up a lot of their time and money to learn how to properly fly commercial aircraft and handle flying in bad conditions or bad weather. For this reason, it is not a good idea to go down this route unless a person is really serious about making this their chosen career.

As expensive as this program can be, it is very important to look at the quality of instruction, not just the cheapest instructor available. It is very important to shop around and to visit potential schools before deciding on any single one.

It is never a good sign when a place wants payment up front before any training is given. This is a bad sign and a good idea is to go with an alternate choice. A good place will make every effort to be clear in communicating and easy to reach for a potential student.

Another important factor of any reputable place is the condition of their planes. They should always be in excellent condition, well maintained and regularly inspected by the relevant authorities. A mistake here could end up costing the life of the student or his passengers, so it is important to take the time to do the research.

Wondering about how to learn to fly, or about flying in South Africa does not need to end with unanswered questions. Taking the time to do the proper research and asking around can net a person a few great options where to get the exact kind of training they need and want, and for a good value. This is an exciting, thrilling path to take, but should not be one taken lightly.
