Excellent Golf Tips That Will Improve Your Game

By Julie Higgins

To become a strong golfer, you must practice, and develop a good technique. Make sure you are able to correctly swing your golf club. You need to be familiar with other tips and advice that can help you have a good game. In the following paragraph, you'll find some suggestions on how to get a better game.

Make the next round with your golfing buddies interesting by placing a little wager. Put up drinks or lunch as a prize for the day's best player. This will spice up the game and make something to play for besides the best score. The reward doesn't have to be anything elaborate, just make it something that will make everyone more excited to play the game.

Therefore, you should stretch prior to playing, and always drink lots of water. Staying in shape can really improve your golf game.

Make sure you don't discourage yourself by golfing with people on a higher level than you. When you're first learning golf, play with fellow beginners on easy courses. Playing an overly difficult course with much better golfers will just discourage you from learning the game.

When golfing, be sure to pay attention. You need to take your shot when it is your turn. Other golfers behind you are standing around waiting for the hole to free up, and they can't play until your group has moved through.

Repair the divot left in the green from a ball shot at a long distance. When a ball flies sky high and lands in the grass, it can often cause large depressions in the ground, which in turn causes damage to your playing field. This damage can prove frustrating to those who follow you. You can simply use a divot repair tool or a tee in order to repair the grass and get it to its original form.

For a drive swing, align the ball with your front foot. In every other shot, the ball should be right between your feet. The only exception to this generalization is when your ball is on an incline.

If you wish to swing more powerfully, use the muscles throughout your body. The legs and your trunk are important to focus on. You need to whip your body around during the swing, deriving strength from your legs as they push against the ground.

Don't dawdle or waste time while playing each round. If your group is playing slowly or experiencing a number of delays, it can be frustrating to the groups playing behind you. If you end up with a slow group and inexperienced players, ask any faster groups behind you to play on through.

Keep your tee height consistent to make sure your drives are dependable. If you don't tee the ball high enough then you are prone to hitting shots that will roll off the tee; conversely, teeing the ball too high will often result in a drive that seemingly launches straight up. If you do some driving practice on the range and optimize the height of your tees, you can hit each ball knowing that it will fly far.

Now that you know a number of methods you can use to up your game, it's time to get to the driving range and hit a few buckets of balls. Put the suggestions of this article to work and see if your game has not already improved! At the end of the day it is about enjoying the game, rather than winning.
