Port Ghalib Is Going To Boost Southern Red Sea Tourism

By Rob Atherton

Port Ghalib is only 10 minutes away from Marsa Alam airport and it is a resort with gigantic ambitions. Found on the Red Sea in Southern Egypt, the master plan is build a top flight integrated resort community. The central element will be the harbour that'll be capable of handling more than 1,000 vessels.

It's also well known to scuba divers who travel here to catch their liveaboards that head out from from Port Ghalib. The perfect coral reefs feature some superb underwater diving along the shore with the well-known Elphinestone Reef to the south being an extremely well liked scuba diving destination.

It is also making its mark in the entertainment world. In 2009, Beyonce played here as part of her "I am..." tour. It was the 1st time the superstar had performed in Egypt or the Middle East and her appearance was terribly successful. Getting world stars like Beyonce underlines the ambition of Port Ghalib to make their name known around the world. All the same, it's unlikely that stars like Beyonce are going to be there each week although there are still other activities for visitors to do if they like a hint of journey to soaking in the sunshine.

As said Port Ghalib is a place to begin for a fair number of of the southern Red Sea liveaboard cruise trips. Day boats also operate from there. There are various wonderful dive sites along the coast from Marsa Alam and in sharp relief to the more popular resorts of Hurghada and Sharm, there are hardly any dive boats in the area consequently typically your party will be the sole people at the dive site. Abu Dabab is a widely recognized shore dive destination toward the south. Folk come in to witness the turtles dining on the sea grass and if they're lucky, the resident Dugong may also show up. Abu Dabab is fairly shallow so snorkellers can also come along too.

For non-divers, many various water sports is available or you can merely spend the days sunbathing. Trips are also available to Luxor, Cairo, the historical town of Quseir or perhaps a camel trading market.
