Hotels Come In A Large Variety Of Designs And Comforts

By Adriana Noton

You can stay at hotels for short periods on payment of a certain amount of money. The concept of a hotel in the past was very basic with a bed, a wardrobe, one wash basin and a small table in a room. This is mostly something of the past now and today these establishments have modern amenities like attached bathrooms and air conditioners.

Most rooms will now have a television, telephone, alarm clocks, safe for valuables, coffee pot with coffee grounds, and a mini bar with snacks and drinks. Suites, or luxury rooms, could include Jacuzzi baths, swimming pools, babysitting areas, big conference rooms, and certain services for social functions.

Hotels offer various forms of accommodation depending on where they are situated and it can vary greatly. Certain countries demand from these places to serve food to their guests only within specified periods. These rules however do not apply for privately owned hotels. The notion of hotel is not always the same in all countries.

The roots of the word hotel come from a French word meaning host. The word today refers to a type townhouse in French. Hotels may offer meals included in the price of the room. To identify the rooms they are numbered or named.

Different inns will have a variety of costs, functions, and can be of diverse sizes. There are categories that they can be placed under from upscale to limited service. Most places that offer accommodation are placed into a category so that people know what to expect.

There are some such places that carve a niche of their own because of the extraordinary comforts or the ambiance they provide. Living trees have been included as structural features in some of them. In some cases, underground nuclear shelters have been converted to hotels.

The old children's story about the old woman who lived in a shoe has even inspired architects to build structures just like a giant shoe. When they are designed like this, they generally take after a platform dancing shoe. Natural caves are a good start for people building special hotels, because some of the structure is already built. It is a novel experience for visitors because rooms are underground. There is even a hotel underwater and people actually need to go scuba diving to get to their room.

Cheaper inns that have rooms stacked on top of each other and is very economical is called capsules. There is not much space in these rooms. There are even places that are made of ice. These are found in colder places and they have to be rebuilt every winter.

The destination influences the type of hotel we choose. Stay away from places with a bad reputation because they can ruin your vacation. Researching beforehand can ensure that you end up in a hotel with quality rooms. Good service is the trademark of good hotels in any price range.
