When it comes to training endurance for people, I can imagine that most will think about the hard work done. This isn't too much of a stretch, either, seeing as how people are going to be tested to see just how far they can go in any physical activity. Those who engage in pure sport are going to have to show that they are built to last. As a professional wrestling fan, I can cite quite a few stars who are able to fit this aspect the best based on their performance.
Before I get into detail about the stars that I would associate with this line of work, I believe that the Iron Man match deserves special mention. The reason that I say this is because not only does it showcase one's physical threshold but it does so in a way that's about as straight as you could expect. There are no weapons or extreme havoc during the hour-long bout where the opponents attempt to pin or submit one another countless times. The one with the most after the hour is done wins the bout.
A match that I regard as one of my favorites, even to this day, is Bret Hart versus Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XII. During the hour, the two men faced one another in a bout that included many technical moves in addition to high-flying maneuvers. What I've noticed, more than anything else, is that they didn't seem to tire much during that time. They continually performed at high levels because they paced the action well and followed each other in order to make the bout fun to watch throughout.
Certainly there has to be a number of other stars who are conditioned to undergo events such as Spartan Race, right? This is especially true when you see how men like Daniel Bryan have been able to condition themselves so that they can compete in a number of contests. Many of them, at least in the independent circuit, went over an hour and his temporary vegan lifestyle was a great help to his body. His level of training endurance stands the chance of becoming that much greater.
I believe it goes without saying that training endurance to the utmost degree takes a special kind of athlete. Those in wrestling work hard, without question, but what about those who have proven that they can work for long periods of time, all the while showcasing great vitality? I believe that it comes down to how well you're able to keep energy levels high. There's a big difference in pacing oneself and simply letting out energy in one session without leaving anything else for the future.
