Boca Raton Area Parks & Nature Center

The Boca Raton Museum of Art is one of South Florida's leading cultural institutions, and features a variety of historic artwork in addition to current work by local and international artists. This magnificent museum dates back to the 1940's when a group of culturally minded residents got together to add an art presence in Boca Raton. Over 60 years later, this highly revered museum resides within Mizner Park and features more than 4,000 works of art. The Museum features an assortment of traveling exhibitions and permanent collections from established and rising artists, and includes 19th and 20th century European and American painting, drawings and sculpture with works by a number of the great masters including Degas, Matisse, Modigliani, Picasso, Seurat, Pre-Columbian art, Mesoamerican and others, plus West African tribal art and artifacts, photography, and more. The museum also offers educational and outreach programs, artist lectures, films, art school classes for adults and children, guest lectures, an art festival, juried competitions, and cultural events. A ceramics collection, an outdoor sculpture garden, and impressive photography holdings are also available to visitors. Not to mention a great gift shop for all guests to attend.

Gumbo Limbo (named for a local tree) is a 20-acre nature center that preserves the natural landscape and native wildlife along the coast in an effort to spread awareness of Florida's environmental concerns about he area. The center is most widely known for its summer turtle walks, which permit visitors to view turtles during their procreation season. An elevated boardwalk and a viewing tower provide vistas of the terrain, and a museum boasts educational displays and live creatures. Outdoor saltwater tanks house ocean-dwelling animals and allow visitors to examine them close-up.

Pirates Cove Playground has a huge pirate ship for great adventures. The Electronic Playground is an interactive computer controlled design that combines the excitement of digital gaming and an outdoor playground.
