Peru Vacations Are A Great Choice For Many Travelers

By Griselda Zerna Albao

Peru is situated in South America on its western side. It is about fifteen hundred miles long and borders the Pacific ocean. Numerous individuals select Peru vacations when arranging their annual getaway. This is due to the fact that the country boasts numerous intriguing characteristics, making it the ideal destination for a pleasant and memorable trip.

Three distinctly different zones make up the country. They are all separated by the Andean Mountain Range. The mountain areas are located in the central section of the country, while the western region is rather arid and runs along the coastline. The eastern region is primarily made up of forests that eventually lead to the Amazon plains.

One of the aspects that fascinates those visiting this region of South America is that the country was the center of the Incan Empire. Those who enjoy history and architecture, and exploring ancient ruins will find a trip to this area both mystical and fascinating. Lake Titicaca, shared with Bolivia, is one of Peru's most famous sites, as well as being the world's highest Lake.

Thousands of individuals travel to this area every year to hike the famous trail of Machu Picchu. The latter is a favorite South American tourist destination, particularly among hiking enthusiasts. There is also a wide variety of choices for visitors who prefer a city environment when traveling, such as Arequipa, Lima, and Trujuillo.

The country's coastal area features a fantastic variety of wildlife, particularly on the Galapagos Islands. The Amazonian region of Peru is also an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Some visitors take the opportunity to travel the length of the Amazon river from Lima to the enchanting and beautiful city of Iquitos.

Travelers may also wish to consider Tambopata, which is a popular Peruvian getaway destination. Many visitors call it the "Paradise of the Amazon Basin". Its biodiversity is virtually immeasurable according to most environmentalists, and it is home to 170 mammal species, 1200 butterfly species, and 67 reptile species. It features a tropical landscape which has largely remained unspoiled throughout the years.

Cuzco is another wise choice for those planning such a getaway. Not only is it the oldest city to be continuously inhabited on the South American continent, but it boasts a diverse culture, warm and friendly residents, and outstanding scenery. However, the air is thin in the city, as it is situated in a very high altitude. Therefore, travelers who are not acclimated to such conditions may wish to consider visiting some of the nation's other towns that are located on lower plains and gradually working up to Cuzco and other high-altitude locations. One may also wish to try one of the many local remedies that can be used to combat altitude sickness.

The nation also has a wide selection of attractions such as museums for individuals who want to learn more about the country's culture and history. Peru vacations can be arranged through a conventional travel agency or booked online, and essentially any season offers pleasant temperatures in this part of South America. Personal preferences vary, but virtually anyone will discover that a Peruvian vacation is an unforgettable event.
