There Is No Reason To Fear Traveling To Croatia

Anyone who has traveled in America lately has experienced the TSA. Rather than making Americans fear travel, more and more people are seeking to visit foreign destinations. Traveling to Croatia is just one example of how Americans are stepping out, and trying to foster peace in the world through friendship, travel, and achieving a level of mutual understanding.

The climate of this region runs from temperate to mountainous, depending on what the traveler wishes to experience. People from the cities and the warmer climes often prefer to vacation in mountainous areas where they can experience snow, and might even want to visit some of the ski resorts in the region. Those who live in colder areas, might want to visit the Adriatic coast which has a lovely Mediterranean climate.

What creates fears for some Americans traveling to this area is the memory of Croatian wars with the Serbs which occurred in the early Nineties. Once they had independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, the Serbs then began fighting for their own independence. A bloody battle ensued, and by 1998 most of the Serbs had fled to Serbia or Bosnia. Slowly relations between Croatians and Serbs have been improving since then.

German and Italian are very popular languages spoken in this region, but most Croatians do speak English as a second language. This makes it easy for tourists for get around, although it is always recommended to try learning some basic elements of their language. Anyone who travels abroad should make some effort to speak the native tongue of the area they are visiting.

Like most European nations, travelers can visit here without a Visa for up to ninety days. One must have a passport, and they can travel freely among a collection of many nations. During the old Soviet Union days, travel was severely restricted, but those walls and restrictions have been largely removed, making travel easier and more pleasant.

Few international flights land in this country, but there are a number of ways which one can gain access. Train is a very popular method of travel, although it is recommended that one get their Eurail pass validated either immediately upon entering the country, or at an international window prior to leaving. Occasionally travelers run into problems getting their pass validated properly while en route.

It is not uncommon for visitors to drive through these countries, although they will want to have an understanding of road signs rules. Many European nations have strict laws against talking on cellular phones while driving. Utilizing an automobile for travel is generally only recommended to those who are experienced travelers, and are able to communicate with the people.

Experiencing culture and history abroad, as well as meeting and gaining an understanding of people in other nations is vital to creating peace in the world. Traveling to Croatia and other parts of Eastern Europe is one way Westerners can connect with the world. It is time that Americans got over their fear of world travel, and stepped out.
