The Formation of a Stop for Commuter Bike Essentials

By Rob Sutter

Missoula, Montana is about to be hit by a new perk that will benefit the lives of every person who utilizes a commuter bike. There are many gas stations in the world. Driving via car is far more common than riding a bike is but that doesn't mean that the latter should be shunned. Montana is about to appease those folks, though, and a new addition is about to impact bike riders within that state, and hopefully others, for some time.

The new addition to be had is called the Downtown Bike Den, located at the Mountain Line Downtown Transfer Center. To put it simply, this is a one-stop area for cyclists in Montana in order to store and repair bicycles. According to KPAX's website, this venue also possesses bicycle parking in addition to display cases for those who are looking for commuter information. It's easy to see why this has the potential for success and people leaving cars at home in favor for their bicycles.

Simply creating a stop station for cyclists wasn't the extent, though. In fact, any person who uses a commuter bike will see an influence in other instances of public travel. The article posts on KPAX's website went on to say that bus routes controlled by Mountain Lion will see changes. Three-slot bike racks will now be set on buses as opposed to the two-slot variations that have been there beforehand. More people are going to want to bike from place to place, so the adjustments should be made and bike authorities such as Linus support it.

These bike racks are going to be especially helpful in terms of this movement. Thirty bike racks and counting are going to be placed along bus stops located in the city, giving cyclists more of an incentive to ride. This particular city seems to be shaping into a haven of sorts for bicyclists and these racks seem almost mandatory to accommodate. These many bike racks are set to be used in the spring of 2013, being made possible because of a grant totaling $133,744 thanks to the Federal Transit Administration.

People have been taking up commuter biking for a number of reasons. Not only is a great way to stay fit but it allows for less emissions typically brought about by excessive automobile usage. It's nice to see that these cyclists are being treated kindly for their dedication, though. These very people can enjoy the additions made by Mountain Lion and new cyclists will find the convenience of these new stop stations more of a reason to stick around.
