A Boat Does Not Sail The Oceans For About Sixty-five Long Years Without Outside Points Of Reference

By Neil Baulch

Part 14. If then, the scientific world tells us that we only know about 10% of all there is to know, we know very little; yet if God is the great Creator who made us and everything else, He knows it ALL. So for us to claim 'I know what life is about and I shall set my course and values' etc.. Is a little silly, as we would need to be God with All Knowledge to know that the way in which we understand life is perfectly balanced.

It's like a ship navigating it's way around the world for 75 years or so; through all the storms and strange unknown places but using itself and it's crew members aboard the same ship, as a reference point to navigate by. Just like a ship, we need someone on the outside of our own limitations to get our bearings for life. It is a huge gamble to do otherwise and considering the eternal consequences, I feel it is one not worth taking. It makes it even more strange when nowadays more people are joining the metaphysical fad of testing the laws of life with mystical feelings rather than traditionally accepted disciplines of scientific testing and literature and historical analysis.

A mountaineer would test a ledge he was about to step onto, by gently stamping on it first; it may be ridiculous to check it out by working up a mystical feeling about it. It just does not add up. In that circumstance we all of a sudden get practical, why do we consider that the risks of the hereafter are any less weighty. It is oftentimes not until a personal catastrophe, that an individual realizes the inability and weakness of their own potential, and realize that there should be a mastermind and higher power behind our existence and world; they then tend to be more ready to accept the reasoning behind something spiritual.

Unfortunately some will accept a weird mystical faith rather than the God of the Bible because they know a badly behaved Christian who has put them off. This would be throwing the baby out with the bath water. Recently a friend had a very near major car accident with his family on board, both he and his wife felt quite sick for the rest of that day. In the days following he felt insecure about his life as he realised just how vulnerable he was. He did not have control over his life as he had always thought he did. He came to me to discuss the dilemma he now faced, 'if I am not in control and I have no power to change that, who does?

At times like that, we think about things that we merely do not think about when life is OK. We just know there has to be someone.' For me, after a lot of research, the God of the Bible, seems the legitimate solution to me. As has been stated "There is no such thing as an Atheist on the battle field."
