It hast to start with that burning desire. Just like any other enterprise, one needs to set up a specific target. Is it the money one is after? A time frame of achieving the goal should also be set. By when does one expect to get the returns?

One is not born to be a caterer. The skills need to be acquired through constant effort. One such skill is cooking. The initial investment will depend on the financial resources available to the potential caterer. Most people inject little capital into the venture then increase the amount after some time. It is recommended that one becomes resourceful enough to utilize the resources that are close. These include home kitchen and rooms.

It is vital to have in mind that it is not just about food. One has to horn skills of planning for many guests and serving them with ease. Great focus is usually on plate presentation, venue selection and table decoration. The need to employ more staff will arise as the business grows. One has to employ people who are skilled and have soft skills of dealing with customers.
