Luxury Resort Thailand:The Six Best Thailand Resorts and Spas

By Caleb Joseph

With the support of the Board of Investment of Thailand and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, The Beaches will be the new shining symbol of the country and will be the benchmark of destination resorts in Asia. It has also joined with True Corporation, one of Thailand's largest technology companies, to create Thailand's first wireless lifestyle convergent communities which will feature state-of-the-art technology throughout the entire project.

The masterplan architect and designers behind the success of The Beaches Resort & Residences are award winning world class design firms - Carl Ettensperger of C&C Studio and Terry Henriksen of Henriksen Design Ltd, who have worked on 5-star hotel projects such as Mandarin Oriental, Hyatt Hotels, Ritz Carlton, Siam Paragon Bangkok, Huvafen Fushi Maldives (2008 Worlds Best Beach Resort, Harpers Bazaar Travel), Hard Rock Hotel - Universal Studios, Florida, and many more prestigious resorts.

St. Carlos Medical Spa, For those who wish to experience the uplifting properties of traditional Thai medicine, this is the place to seek out. The spa treatment and other therapies have earned a reputation for providing a small slice of heaven to visitors. Once you check into deluxe accommodations, you may explore the open terrace, evening cruise, or delicious international cuisine. One of the most popular packages at this location includes the Honeymoon Package, offering five treatments per day (three primary and two mini options). Average Price: $100-$1500

Cha Am to this day remains largely off the tourist trail. Many westerners, who do get to visit Cha Am, arrive on the weekends when the place is quite literally inundated with Thais from Bangkok. This puts many tourists off, not because of the way locals behave, but simply because the beaches and other public places are so busy. Come Sunday afternoon, and normality returns, and this is essentially when tourists should visit. The beaches are pristine, calm, and as peaceful as one could hope for. The locals are laid back, and are some of the friendliest people in the country. Another great thing about living in a Cha Am house is the fact that the area is geared up to cater for Thais rather than foreign tourists, and this means things cost a fraction of what they cost in neighboring Hua-Hin. All round, Cha Am is an ideal destination for anyone who wants to spend time near the coast, while at the same time avoiding throngs of tourists. Even on weekends when locals flood the area, there are still some wonderful little getaways where one can retreat to, such as the Cha Am Forest Park.

The Cha Am animal rescue center has also become quite a popular attraction between those that are familiar with the area. This somewhat small rescue center came to be when Thai authorizes asked the owner of the land if he could care for two injured animals. Since then, the center grew and grew, and today it is home to a relatively large variety of animals. Visitors pay no entrance fee, but donations are welcome, and also very much appreciated. One can also volunteer to help out at the center, be it for just a day, or be it for a few weeks or months. Admittedly, Cha Am doesn't have all the major attractions one sees in the key tourist areas, but it does offer travelers an opportunity to experience Luxury Resort Thailand in the same way local inhabitants do. For this reason, more and more foreigners are investing in a Cha Am house to use during their stay in the Kingdom.
