Lindqvist is a factory mechanic in Stockholm, Sweden. The stove he created was based upon the design of the hand-held blowtorch. Rutgers Football: Scarlet Knights Start a New Era

With the departure of 11-year head coach Greg Schiano for the NFL, the Rutgers are now set for a new era. Schiano's time with the team was littered with accomplishments and success and he will be sorely missed.

Rutgers hired Schiano's assistant Kyle Flood in the hopes that he could maintain Schiano's program. Flood takes over the team with some real talent and 15 starters returning. They had a record of 9-4 last season, and the transition to the new coaching staff will certainly be easier, but it's still a concern. Offense

Rutgers never did find consistency at quarterback last year. Freshmen Gary Nova and Chas Dodd both saw time, but neither emerged as the QB of the future. Heading into fall practice, it's still not clear who will be the starter.

Regardless of who ends up starting at quarterback, they need to find a way of turning things around in the running game. They averaged a measly 98 yards/game and only 2.8 yards/carry last year. The Scarlet Knights once again struggled to crack the 3.0 yards/carry mark. It was certainly a surprise to see the team struggle with their running game as much as they did last year. Rutgers landed one of the top recruits in the nation in Savon Huggins but he struggled to make a lasting impact until his season ended seven games into the season. Red-shirt freshman Jawan Jamison managed to lead the team with 897 yards and nine touchdowns, but it's likely he takes a step back to Huggins in 2012.

The Scarlet Knights must find a way to replace the production of 4th Team All-American receiver Mohamed Sanu. The departure of Sanu would have definitely hurt more if it wasn't for the emergence of freshman Brandon Coleman last year.

Despite having a mediocre quarterback under center and an unproven running game, their offensive line should be one of the best in the Big East this coming season. They have to replace three starters, but the addition of Maryland transfer R.J. Dill at right tackle, the emergence of Andre Civil as one of the top left guards in the conference and with 3rd Team Freshman All-American left tackle Kaleb Johnson coming back, this unit looks to be deadly in 2012.

Defense

The defense of the Scarlet Knights is what will make this squad fun to watch as they had an excellent campaign in that regard last year. With eight starters coming back in 2012, look for the team to continue to be one of the best defenses in the Big East.

Despite losing starting defensive tackle Justin Francis and defensive end Manny Abreu, the defensive line should be even better than it was a year ago. Rutgers returns one of the premier defensive tackles in all of college football in Scott Vallone, and add in one of the top ten freshman defensive ends in the country in Darius Hamilton. They also expect big things out of highly touted red-shirt defensive tackle Marquise Wright.

The return of all three starting linebackers from last year is what is keeping this team as one of the top defenses in the Big East this season. Weak-side linebacker Khaseem Green headlines this unit and he was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.

Rutgers has some great talent and depth returning in the secondary. They return one of the best corners in the country in Logan Ryan, and they bring back one of their most exciting playmakers in free safety Duron Harmon. Starting corner Brandon Jones and a great backup corner in Mason Robinson also return.

Big East Prediction - 4th Place

The loss of Schiano is the biggest reason this team slips to 4th place. Flood can still lead this team to a Big East title, but chances are they will disappoint. They have a very hard schedule where they face both South Florida and Pittsburgh on the road. Both teams are among the two highest rated teams in the conference.

Right now in August 2012, the corn belt in the USA is suffering from drought.

Look what took place in Libya last year in August 2011: NATOs 'liberating' forces annihilated a water pipeline in Libya denying drinking water to 4.5 million people. Agricultural crops that feed millions can no longer be irrigated. As repairs was beginning on the pipeline NATO destroyed the factory that was rushing to carry out this work.

Wyoming Football: Cowboys Could Win Mountain West Title

Dave Christensen has really done a solid job in his three seasons at Wyoming. He has taken the Cowboys to two bowl games in the past three years and they are coming off their best season in years with an 8-5 record in 2011. Their only two conference losses came against TCU and Boise State, which landed them in 3rd place in the MWC standings.

The Cowboys have an outside shot at winning the MWC in 2012. They have 12 starters coming back in a conference that figures to be down this season.

Offense

The Cowboys were very efficient offensively last year, putting up 26.1 points and 388 total yards/game. Most of the offense came from a powerfull rushing attack that averaged 182 ypg. They may have only five starters returning on this side of the ball, but the ones coming back are the best players from their 2011 campaign.

Quarterback Brett Smith earned Mountain West Freshman Player of the Year honors for his excellent play last season. Smith has the opportunity to be even better in his sophomore campaign.

Wyoming parts ways with its top running back from 2011 in Alvester Alexander. They do return their next three top running backs so they should be fine. However, a drop in production is inevitable as the 4.9 yards/carry they had as a team last year was their best mark in more than 20 years.

The receiving corps welcomes back three very solid and efficient players from a year ago. Senior Curtis McNeill, sophomore Dominic Rufran and junior Robert Herron could all improve on their solid 2011 numbers with Smith throwing to them once again.

The biggest concern on offense is the loss of three starters along the O-line, including second-team All-MWC OT Clayton Kirven. They do have two starters and 64 career starts returning up front, so there is some experience here. The returning starters are second-team All-MWC C Nick Carlson and junior LG Tyler Strong.

Defense

Wyoming has a lot of room to grow defensively after giving up 27.8 points and 432 total yards/game last season. The Cowboys welcome back seven starters on defense in 2012, but will have to replace three of their top four tacklers from last season. One thing the defense will look to build on from last year is the fact that this unit helped Wyoming finish +12 in turnover margin.

The Cowboys must find a way to play better against the run. They gave up a whopping 232 yards/game and 5.1/carry on the ground in 2011. The loss of their two best defensive linemen in second-team All-MWC DE Josh Biezuns and second-team All-MWC DE Gabe Knapton makes things that much worse for this unit. They still have an opportunity to get better as they have three starters and six of their top eight returning up front. But for everything to go right, senior DT Mike Purcell and senior DE Ben Durbin need to step up and embrace their roles as leaders for this unit.

The loss of second-team All-MWC Brian Hendricks on the linebacker corps is tough, but they do bring back four of their top six at the position. Senior MLB Oliver Schober and junior MLB Devyn Harris will be battling for snaps this fall. The best of the bunch is probably senior MLB Oliver Schober.

The secondary should be improved with nine of their top 10 tacklers returning in the defensive backfield. The loss of second-team All-MWC CB Tashaun Gipson is big, but they have three starters coming back. They are junior CB Marqueston Huff, senior FS Luke Anderson and second-team All-MWC SS Luke Ruff.

Nevada's College Football Hall of Fame head coach Chris Ault returns for another season with the Wolfpack. Ault has coached this program during three separate tenures. His current stint might be the most impressive, leading Nevada to seven bowl games in the last eight years. Nevada ended the season at 7-6 in 2011 after a 17-24 loss to Southern Miss in the Hawaii Bowl. The Wolfpack return 12 total starters and 31 lettermen this season. This team will be inexperienced, but talented on the offensive side of the ball.

Offense

Ault's offenses have consistently been among the best in college football. Over the past four seasons, they have averaged better than 31 points per game and over 500 yards per game. Those numbers include last season when the Wolfpack put up 31.7 points and 507 yards per game. Despite this success, Ault is handing the offense over his new offensive coordinator, Nick Rolovich, for the upcoming season.

Sophomore QB Cody Fajardo earned Freshman WAC Player of the Year honors for his efforts last season.

Nevada will need to replace their top two rushers from last season with both Lampford Mark and Mike Ball leaving. Freshman back Tony Knight is expected to start, while junior Stephon Jefferson should get significant carries as well.

The Wolfpack should be good at receiver, despite losing both Rashard Matthews and Shane Anderson at wideout. That's because both senior WR Brandon Wimberly and senior TE Zach Sudfeld comes back after missing almost all of last season due to injury. Coming back as well is sophomore WR Aaron Bradley and junior TE Kolby Arendse. They add JUCO transfer Nigel Westbrooks at receiver as well.

The offensive line should be just as strong coming into 2012 with three starters and 75 career starts returning. First-team All-WAC guard Chris Barker and second-team All-WAC tackle Jeff Nady lead the way.

Defense

The defense gave up a respectable 25.2 points and 369 total yards per game last season. The Wolfpack return six starters on this side of the ball, but lose their top two tacklers, and many of their best players.

Their biggest loss may be up front where DT Brett Roy has departed. Their only returning starter is junior DT Jack Reynoso. JUCO transfer Cortez Woods should dominate alongside Reynose at defensive tackle. Both sophomore DE's Jake Peppard and Tyler Houk are still quite raw and they may not be ready to be big contributors in 2012.

The linebacker position loses their #1 and #2 tacklers in Brandon Marshall and James-Michael-Johnson. Both players were taken in the NFL during the offseason. Former DE Albert Rosette moved to MLB in the spring. Also coming back is senior SLB Jeremiah Green, and JUCO transfer Jon McNeal's ready to start at the WLB position.

The secondary played exceptionally well last year, allowing just 48.3% completions and 222 passing yards/game to opposing quarterbacks. This unit should once again be their bread and butter on the defensive end as seven of their top eight players are back. They lost first-team All-WAC CB Isaiah Frey to the NFL, but return three starters in senior CB Khalid Wooten, senior SS Duke Williams, and senior FS Marlon Johnson.

Mountain West Prediction - 2nd Place

The Wolf Pack move from the WAC to the Mountain West this season. While the MWC used to be very strong, it appears to be down this season with the departure of TCU, and a lot of inexperience from most teams in the conference. Boise State is even expected to be down this year. The Wolfpack certainly has the talent to compete for a conference title in their first year in the MWC. Their schedule is also quite manageable facing teams on the road that are winnable, while all their toughest games will be played at home. Their game against Boise State at home at the end of the regular season could be the deciding factor on whether or not the Wolfpack can win the conference.

There is an age-old battle between confidence and fear that goes on within each player. It doesn?t matter how old you are. It only takes a few swings or at-bats before the thought that you might be overmatched, or you have lost your touch begins to set-in and take control of your mind. Every player has gone through it, and every player never wants it to happen again. Worst of all, when you ask most players what is the cause of their baseball batting slump, and most will respond, ?I don?t know!?

Every player has heard the phrase, ?I can?t teach you to be confident, that is something that you are going to have to do on your own!? Up until a few years ago, I would have 100% agreed with them. However, after my recent studies in psychology, I was wrong! The act of being confident, much like training your physical mechanics and your muscles, has to be learned. Fortunately, we have the tools and understanding to accomplish that now! Among all of the batting techniques that are out there, there are to very powerful mental training exercises your player can use to overcome any of his baseball batting woes.

For starters, I want to let you know that it doesn?t matter what level of play your player may be at. Several prominent professional like Alex Rodriguez who has had abysmal performances in the playoffs up until late, or Tejada who threw his bats over the dugout a few years back suffer from these same issues . On the personal side of things, a minor leaguer who is loosing confidence after 9 very successful seasons in the pros recently contacted me. With that in mind, it?s safe to assume, that those who aren?t at the professional level, little leaguers, high school players, and college players are struggling with the same batting battle.

In short, slumps are a result of focus. Not a lack of focus, but the wrong type of focus. Unfortunately from a young age, baseball players are taught that a good performance is measured by their statistics. As a result, players will look at a 0 for 4 day with four hard line outs as a bad day because a .000 will show up on their stats sheet. Even though the name of the game is hit it where their not, I consider that an excellent day at the plate with nothing more you could of done. However, most players become disappointed after a day like that because they feel they have nothing to show for it. This is why so many players like to get a hit in their first at bat, it takes the pressure off and they can play more relaxed baseball!

If a player doesn?t get a hit in his first at-bat, the pressure begins to mount. Each successive at-bat piles on top of each other and before player?s have a chance to take a breath, each at-bat becomes the make or break moment of their career. Whether they begin swinging at every pitch they see, or take pitches right down the middle because they are afraid to get out, they enter a emotional state and loose their ability to make good decisions.

So how does one overcome this cycle of madness? Mental Training Exercise #1 of course; focus on the now and create positive proactive action steps to correct your mistakes. For example, instead of saying ?Don?t drop your back shoulder,? tell yourself to ?Drive the backside harder,? or ?Drive the hands down through the zone.? This is a very subtle difference in terminology that goes a long way and will keep you in the right state of mind. You see, the mind can only be in one of two states at a time, emotional or logical. An emotional state means poor decisions and a pure focus on the end result. Contrary, logical state leads to a clear perception of the all the angles to solve the problem, which means a better chance at finding a solution.

Simply telling yourself you are going to get a hit, or believing you are going to get a hit isn?t enough. You must be down to the T specific about how exactly you are going to get that hit. For example, do you need to ?Drive your backside down harder,? or ?Finish high towards the field of play you want to hit the baseball?? Pick out the positive specific actions that will give you best chance to succeed on your very next swing and say them to yourself.

This small, but powerful mindset shift will keep you constantly learning the past, but focused on how you are going to improve for the future. This leads me to our next topic, which is the power of proper goal setting. Most players make the mistake of creating goals that will take an entire season to either meet or not meet. This is crazy! Goals such as hitting over .300 with 10 home runs and 45 runs batted in are great, but they don?t give player?s any gauge of what they need to accomplish now to make that happen.

This brings me to baseball batting slump breaker number 2, live in the now with your goals! Every action should carry three very specific goals you want to accomplish. For instance, three goals I had for myself when I played were: drive you backside hard, drive you hands to the inside part of the baseball, and finish towards the field of play you want to hit the baseball. Some might even say these are three positive action steps I needed to accomplish every swing! I knew that if I accomplished these three goals every swing, then at the end of the year I would end up with the statistics I was aiming for in the first place. The bottom line is you will not be able reach any of your long term goals if you don?t accomplish the ones you have today!

If this sounds a little to easy, you would be right! For starters, if you are the best, you will only succeed three out of ten times at the plate. This means no matter how hard you try, you are going to face a negative response seven out of ten times. Just like any other baseball batting training, you need to be dedicated to your positive proactive approach! The key is to recognize when you begin to focus on the results that way you can take a step back and reprioritize moving forward. Performing in the ?now? and creating positive proactive action steps on every swing will break you of your batting slump woes and keep you consistent at the plate for the rest of your playing career!

San Diego State Football: Aztecs Headed for 6th Place Finish in MWC

The San Diego State Aztecs appear to be headed in the right direction.. Rocky Long took over the head coach job last year after Brady Hoke left for Michigan. Long led the Aztecs to an 8-5 campaign after they went 9-4 in Hoke's final season.. They ended up in fourth place in the MWC at 4-3. The Aztecs had a chance to match's 2010's win total, but loss to Louisiana-Lafayette 30-32 in the New Orleans Bowl.

We wil find out just how good of a coach Long is in 2012. The Aztecs have to replace their five best players and have just 12 starters coming back total.. They lost their two best players on offense and their three best players on defense.

Offense

San Diego State put up 29.8 points and 427 total yards per game last season. They beat teams with a passing attack that averaged 243 ypg and a ground assault that averaged 184 ypg. It's going to be extremely hard for this team to come anywhere close to last year's numbers with the loss of their two best players on this side of the ball.

Ryan Lindley departs after breaking almost all of SDSU's passing records, as well as Max Hall's career MWC record of 11,365 yards. His numbers, while obviously irreplaceable, will eased due to some nice experience at this position. QB Ryan Kantz' decision to transfer from Oregon State makes Lindley's departure bearable as they enter the new season.

Running back Ronnie Hillman left early for the NFL and sits third on the school's all-time rushing list with 3,243 yards despite playing just two seasons. He is another player that is obviously irreplaceable as he posted nice numbers running for 1,711 yards and 19 touchdowns last year. Both sophomore RB Adam Muema and senior RB Walter Kazee will have a hard time to match Hillman's individual production.

The biggest strength offensively is at receiver, where the Aztecs return their top three pass catchers from last season. Junior WR Colin Lockett, junior WR Dylan Denso and junior TE Gavin Escobar are all very good and capable players. Escobar earned first-team All-MWC honors last season and he has shown that he is definitely the best tight end in the MWC. USC transfer Brice Butler will start at receiver right away.

The offensive line loses three starters, including first-team All-MWC LT Tommie Draheim and third-team All-MWC RT Kurtis Gunther. They have two starters returning in second-team All-MWC C Alec Johnson and senior RG Nik Embernate. Junior LT Bryce Quigley moves to the O-line after previously playing at tight end. He gives them a total of 75 career starts returning up front.

The defensive line loses second-team All-MWC NT Jerome Long and third-team All-MWC DE Larry Gibbs. The unit returns just nine starters from last season, so they will definitely be an inexperienced bunch. Their only returning starter in this 3-3-5 scheme is junior DE Jordan Thomas. Moving into the starting lineup is a pair of sophomores up front in DT Sam Meredith and DE Cody Galea.

The Aztecs lose their best linebacker from a year ago in first-team All-MWC Miles Burris who left for the NFL during the offseason. But they should once again be solid as this unit returns its #3, #5 and #6 tacklers. These are junior AZTEC Nat Berhe, sophomore MLB Jake Feely and junior SLB Nick Tanhaeff.

The Aztecs also part ways with their best player in the secondary from a year ago in first team All-MWC CB Larry Parker. They do return three starters so they should still be good in 2012. Two-time first-team All-MWC senior CB Leon McFadden is the best of the bunch. Also coming back are junior safeties Gabe Lemon and Marcus Andrews.
